(Abilene, Texas – June 17, 2022) – McMurry University announces they received the greatest amount of commitments in school history at over $15.4 million in fiscal year 2022, breaking the record set in 2007 by over $200,000.
“This fundraising record, along with an increase in student enrollment, continues our strong momentum going into our Centennial year,” McMurry University President Dr. Sandra S. Harper said. “We look forward to leveraging these record achievements to ensure our students’ success.”
With another large incoming class, the largest single project in school history, and Centennial celebrations starting in September, McMurry is excited about the future. The current strategic plan ends with the Centennial in 2023, and McMurry is in the process of developing a new strategic plan that will lead McMurry into the second Centennial.
“This record fundraising year clearly demonstrates the investment that our alumni, donors, and friends have made in McMurry,” Vice President for Institutional Advancement Michael V. Hutchison said. “McMurry is preparing individuals for lives of leadership, service, and professional success in a complex world. These funds provide the scholarship support, programs, and facilities needed to attract, support, and graduate the best and brightest students.”
McMurry’s alumni and friends support many aspects of the University including $1 million in annual support to the McMurry Fund and Athletic Fund, $1.8 million to the endowment, $1 million to support academics, and $10.9 million for capital. McMurry also received a significant increase in endowed funds for the sciences that will have an impact on the program in perpetuity.
McMurry received $9.2 million in commitments from the Mabee Foundation, the Garrison Foundation, and several anonymous foundations. McMurry also received large gifts from generous individuals. Many of these donations will specifically support the reimagined Garrison United Methodist Campus Center and the many expanded services it will provide to students and the community.
