Campus Center
The Shirley L. and Mildred Garrison United Methodist Student Center
Construction is underway on the $25+ million expansion of the Garrison Student Center. The new modernized student center is scheduled to open in fall 2023. The expansion adds a second floor and increases the square footage from 39,000 to 58,000. The center will feature welcoming common spaces providing students with a place where they can come together. Features include:
Carlton Chapel: Central to McMurry’s identity as a United Methodist university, the chapel will be enlarged to meet the spiritual needs of our students, faculty, and staff.
Community Area & Kitchenette: A base for students who live off campus or take evening classes to heat a meal, catch the news, or recharge.
Esports Center: A new campus home for McMurry’s competitive esports team, the Esports Center will also be used to support academic programs.
Fitness & Wellness Center: With both exercise equipment and a multipurpose studio, this 5,000-square-foot center will be McMurry’s first comprehensive fitness and wellness facility.
Student Gathering Areas: Expanded and enhanced indoor and outdoor spaces for studying in groups or alone, cocurricular activities, or simply hanging out with friends.
Student Leadership Suite: Designed for student government and other leadership programs, clubs, interest groups, and more.
Spirit Store: Offering McMurry apparel, gifts, and a selection of other study essentials.
Student Support Services: Centralization of services including first-year programming, test prep, advising, career development, and more.
The Shirley L. & Mildred Garrison United Methodist Campus Center
Completed in the fall of 1979, the Campus Center is a $22 million structure located in the center of McMurry’s campus. The Campus Center is a partially underground structure with grassy slopes rising around its walls. This structure is used for a wide variety of activities. Weekly campus worship services are held in its chapel, dances are held in its huge ballroom, students’ free time may be spent in the snack bar and game room. The Campus Center was renovated in 2001 to include new carpet in the ballroom, new furniture, and carpeting in the Windjammer’s lounge.
The Campus Center, as both a building and a concept, supports and augments the educational mission of the university by projecting classroom learning into the sphere of human experience.
The Campus Center hours are Sunday through Saturday, 24 hours daily, except in the Summer.
